The pin stripe tape works as long as you take care. Stick it on well and wait till paint is really dry before you remove it.
Practise on something unimportant to discover what may happen if tape is not properly stuck, or paint too thin / thick and timing before you remove the tape, thin paint may run, get under tape, and attack tape resin etc. It is very easy to get a ragged pin stipe, much more difficult to get it right.

The tape I got was very thin and designed for this purpose and as long as it was stuck down well (which almost can't be done wrong as it is very sticky but removable) especially on the bends you will be fine. The spacing is already done for you and you can choose the widths and spacings. You stick the tape on then peel off the transparent top layer, this will expose the spacings. You then paint the tank that is showing between the parts of the tape (no worries about getting paint on the tape cos it peels off anyway, and then once dry peel off each separate line of the tape at an angle to the lines. It comes off cleanly without breaking
