Are you 100% sure the timing and settings are correct.

If its under load it sounds like timing or spark plug / coil.

If you switch the switch to emergency start setting does it still do it?

You can rule out a lot of the electrics just by running the battery to the points.
I'd check the timing with it in normal and full advance just in case something weird is going on.
Other tips - check the float level (easiest is by using a clear tube attached under the jet and run up the side of the carb).
Also worth using a clear tube petrol pipe so you can see supply problems.
If none of those gives any joy I'd check valve clearances & timing and see how it runs with no silencer in case thats blocked.

Hello, the batterie reads 7.2 v output, the positive pole to the coil reads .3 v and the negative pole 6.6v !!! this is so when engine not running with ignition swith on I and on E. As you have probably guessed electrics is not my strong point, and possibly those feeds are the wrong way round ?

The Matchless is alive 1st/2nd kick, runnig well, and still capable of 70mph. !!

The auto advanse/retard, was not so good.!!

Good news then Bernard, glad the bike is up and running, but I'm not sure what was the fix? Spare coil or advance/retard mechanism?
