Cartridge oil filter
Hi
Has anyone ever fitted a separate cartridge oil filter? If so, where did you put it? A previous owner fitted one to my Model 31; it's on the trim panel that sits between the battery and tool boxes, with the filter sitting to he left of the carburettor. It's not exactly pretty, and I would like to re-plumb it somewhere else. Or perhaps return to standard?
Separate question: do you think 'classic' 20/50 oil, as sold by a well known motoring accessory shop, would be OK for both the engine and primary drive?

Yes, as Stuart says, fit it between the oiltank and toolbox. That's where mine is. Make sure it's in the return line. I also use the Halfords 20/50 in engine and chaincase. Straight 50 in the gearbox.

Re: Cartridge oil filter
I fitted a spin-on filter using an adapter on the end of the filter gallery on the engine which replaces the nut / non return valve. You can then bin the felt filter.
It was made by Dave Summerfield (poptsover on this forum).

Hi All
Thanks for all the information. I was thinking along the same lines of fitting it between oil tank and toolbox, either bolted to the back of the toolbox or making up some form of bracket across the frame. How are yours fitted?
