Good afternoon everyone
Can someone tell me what 'Matchless' decal should be fitted to the rear mudguard of my G5? And also its correct location.
The one I have says 'Matchless Motorcycles (Colliers Ltd.) Plumstead Road London Eng' and is currently fitted at the bottom, just under the number plate.
I have another sticker which says 'Associated Motorcycles Ltd. Plumstead, London, Eng'.
My bike is a 1961 G5 and would I be correct in saying that it should be fitted at the top of the mudguard, above the tail lamp?.
Many thanks.
James

Re: Rear Mudguard Decal
Hi
Here's the rear mudguard decal on my 61 G3 before restoration - the decal is the original one from 1961:
New decal from Classic Transfers:
Would the lightweights have had different decals?
Regards Mick

Thanks for that Mick
It certainly seems like the correct location is above the rear lamp.
I have just found the file upload thingy (lol), so I'll upload a pic of mine and its location.
Cheers

Hi
In 1961 the company was AMC, I think the decal you have is more suited to earlier bikes.

The transfer states Associated Motor Cycles its 1946 to 1963. 30's type had arrows.
Odd thing is, AJS & Matchless lightweights show pt. no. 009194 as the rear guard for both marques. The club show this pt no. for A.J.S and the transfer picture is just the AJS logo.

Morning all
Thanks for your replies. I think I'll remove the sticker that's on there at the mo and fit my new one above the rear light
Thanks again
