1961 Chaincase
Hi again guys, another question, my 1961 G2 has a chainguard fitted, but it is not a fully enclosed type, should it be fully enclosed?
The book shows that the rear chaincase has a top (042377) and bottom (042469) half with a rubber inspection cap (042378)
Or were some supplied without this fully enclosed chaincase?
I do have the fairing for the chaincase (042403) which I shall fit
I assume that if I needed the top and bottom parts etc, that these might be very difficult to find?
Or does anybody have these on a shelf with some hens teeth
Gary

Re: 1961 Chaincase
Not sure what chain case 61 G2 had. An earlier model year appear to have fully enclosed according to a parts list. I am missing at least 18 pages of the 1960 to 1966 supplement. Which should have at least 29 pages. I posted a topic asking if any one has this book complete or a master light weight parts list for the 1960's. So far one can help.

Hmm, that link above doesn't seem to work so find the 1961 G2CS (and G2) advert here:
http://archives.jampot.dk/promotional/Advertisements/
and a '60 G2
http://archives.jampot.dk/promotional/C ... _Cycle.pdf
Both have a fully enclosed chain.

Re: 1961 Chaincase
You may have a top half but it may not be the top half of a complete chain guard as some models only had a top chain guard which was never designed to fit a bottom part to. Both top and bottom halves need to be from a complete chain guard set up. These are EXTREMELY rare, I finally decided to sell a spare one I had been hanging onto for a long while a few months back and it went for £155 on ebay, just to give you an idea what you are up against. I have only seen one on there in the last 3 years or so...Woodland wrote:Hi again guys, another question, my 1961 G2 has a chainguard fitted, but it is not a fully enclosed type, should it be fully enclosed?

Re: 1961 Chaincase
I know someone who has a fully enclosed chain case on his G2, wonder how much it would cost to have copies manufactured?
Does anyone know a company who could replicate from originals supplied ?
Mind you will have to ask if he's happy to supply for duration of any manufacture?

Re: 1961 Chaincase
Keep an eye on ebay messages as sometimes they have a "sell for £1" campaign. there is one at the moment for me..shifter wrote:I have an enclosed chain case that I may sell but as in the above text they are like hens teeth I did have it on e bay but changed my mind and took it off as I think the % grab is over the top
