Thanks Sprids and Martin, there might have been a touch of fatigue involved as well. As for lights; I remember seeing a kerb and island in front of me and thinking that it wasn't going to end well! Sorry about the thread hijack.

Agree. Sounds like a very nasty surprise, hope you heal up quickly.

Martin, here are some drawings of the model I created to calculate compression ratio of my CSR using measurements taken from the head and piston.

Hope this helps

Although Roy is big enough and ugly enough not to need sweet li'l ol' me to defend him, I'll risk your wrath and explain why I think you received some of the responses that you didn't appreciate.

You started this thread in the G12/M31 forum with the thread title '59/60 Cylinder heads which immediately makes people think that the answer you're looking for is to enable work on one of those machines. I'm a bit dim so thought that. Then you went on to talk about fitting a piston in a G5 and modifying the head. Therefore I believe that there was a misunderstanding about which engine you were actually wanting to modify.

If you'd started off by saying "I have a G5 and, if possible, I would like to fit a late G12 piston.........." you may have been spared the unhelpful replies. As has been stated on here in the past (paraphrased), sometimes the writing on the page doesn't convey the thought in the head.
