Hi Matg80s, where in SA are you located? If you are in Gauteng, come to the Classic Motorcycle Club in Germiston on Sunday 3 February, there are some projects and parts coming up for tender soon. When we were sorting parts and bikes into makes, there was a lot of G9 bits in the AMC pile. Ask for me or Colin Blackburn. You can PM me for contact details.
Regards

You're welcome to contact me if you come to South Africa. I'm sure someone more familiar with the G9 will be along shortly. Be careful of the chap who is an expert on twins - he will try sell you stuff on this forum .
I will have a look through my literature in the meantime.
Best of luck

I enjoy enormously this type of build thread as I learn so much - even if I never have to put the theory into practice! I will continue to watch progress with enthusiasm Matt.

Do not forget, when looking for parts for a pre 1952 machine, you do need to discover if the part was continued to 52 and beyond and has been given a new part number. You will need this new part number, which was used by AMC and all spares sellers from 1952 to date. To discover if the part is stocked under the new pt, no.
Look here. http://archives.jampot.dk/book/Spares_l ... ements.pdf
If the part you seek has been given a new part number, use the new to find the part ( you may find new old stock with the old pt. no at jumbles ) If the pre 52 old part number does not convert to a new number. You know that part was not continued in use 1952 there after.
