1959. Thread size for fuel tap into the tank?

Post by Lowen1981 »

I need help finding the correct size thread for a 1959 ajs model 14 brass lever fuel tap. I can't seem to find a part number for a brass fuel tap like in the one pictured. Could anyone shed some light please

You won't find a part number for a tap like that as it's not the correct part. However the thread size is 1/8 BSP and the club sell really good ethanol proof ones that don't leak.

017050T is the tap with the teflon washer. It won't be correct for the bike but it will fit and not leak, also the correct taps are not available but you can still buy the brass ones like in your picture. A nickel plated version is also available (not from the club) which is very close to the originals but they have no seals, simply relying on a taper fit.
