Clearly there were at least two Wipac types used. The oblong and more oval shape types. ( not Lucas.) See Wipac parts list for the more oval type re Wipac part no's.
AMC pt. no's 042524 & 043451 So check your parts list if you have one. I ask again, does anyone have this parts list they could loan me to copy for club archives. http://archives.jampot.dk/book/Spares_l ... o_1966.pdf
The later light seems to appear circa 1962. Note the above parts list has many pages missing. It would be a great help to us all if we could this light weight master parts list. It will show us parts used on 1962 to 1966 years / models. There are only complete parts lists for the early light weight years. From then on only supplements.
See Wipac light weight list below for the earlier oval shape rear lamp picture and Wipac pt. no.
http://archives.jampot.dk/technical/Ele ... 958-59.pdf
At present I am making digital copies of club archives. It will be a long job. I am working on Jampot magazine now, and only got up to 1957 today.

Late into this, but I'm sure my 1966 CSR had the same light arrangement as the top B&W picture, and Shifter's top picture including the arrangement onto the mudguard.

Think it is Wipac S179 lens. I had a Lucas lens on there when I first got the bike, seemed to fit the same lamp but I seem to remember trying ages to get the "correct" lens there is a complete lamp assembly on ebay at the moment if you are interested at a reasonable price

I believe then what I'm looking for is the Wipac S 179 and thanks for the nod Paul.
When searching for this number the Bantam rear light kept coming up with that number too (reminds me of Batman for some reason and should have been on the Bat Bike)
But also this came up as well

This has a ridge over the top
I found another also - Wipac 142

Thanks for all your help

The lens on mine is a 179. This matches the fitting which has Series 179 Wipac stamped on it.

A useless piece of information. Like the white part of the lens that illuminates the number plate, the circular red reflector was manufactured separately and is/was glued/clipped in.

I forgot to mention, when I took off the lens I discovered a small dirty piece of cork gasket stuck in the groove of the fitting. I suspect it is an original part so, naturally, I left it there.
