Lower Fork Yoke Pinch Bolt

Post by Martin.S »

Could anyone tell me the length of the 3/8 BSF allen pinch bolt on the lower fork yoke on the 1 1/8th forks - part number 018649.

I screwed in one of the ones I was given and it was too short and just pulled the first couple of threads in the yoke.

Cheers

I agree with you the hole is deep enough for an inch and half bolt but it may need tapping out further.

I bought some 3/8 x 3" unc allen bots in stainless - these had an 1 1/2" of plain shank on which I cut a BSF thread. I finished the length off at 1 7/16" and they work a treat.
I don't understand why 1" bolts are supplied as the thread contact is so minimal.
