Hi folks,
Does anyone know what gearbox is fitted on this model, and what is the best seal to fit in place of the felt item to stop it leaking.
Regards
James

Its probably a Burman CP box but who can tell after 71 years. A photo would help.

Hmmm, I can't get the file to attach because it's too big?
The gearbox has got a round filler plug at the top, and a small cover for the clutch thrust rod diagonally below it.
If that makes any sense?

Definitely a CP box. Recommendation given to me by Les at Russels 39 years ago. To stop the CP box leaking at the kickstart only put enough oil in so you can see it just being stirred by the kickstart quadrant. In other words less oil and it wont leak. Followed this advice carefully for 39 years.

Hahahaha, that's certainly a fool proof way of curing a leak!!
I think we can safely say after 39yrs that this is good advice!!
Thanks Clive.

It could be that your CP gear box should have grease in it and not oil at all. Im not sure what year the change was made from grease to oil but it will be in the manual. Is there a grease nipple fitted to the outer case
