Welcome to the Forums, Liam. Lovely project. Ask all you want; plenty of help on here.
The pipe end should be swaged out to be a tight fit in the head and no clamp is specified. Swaging isn't easy in my experience so it's important that the lower pipe clamp bracket pre-loads the pipe into the head. Many use silicone sealant at the pipe to head interface to hold it from rattling and prevent leaks. If you wrap the exposed part of the pipe with masking tape before applying the sealant you'll get a cleaner finished edge.
Here's a past thread with more opinions.......

BTW - As you've a lot to do it's recommended to subscribe which will give you access to the Club spares. Some Lightweight spares are very scarce but the club has recently purchased the stock of a retiring manufacturer so no better time to do a rebuild.

It just slides into the head, brackets hold it onto the frame etc.

The ever grouchy itma once explained to me about the time one of the chaps took holiday from the factory and that caused problems with exhausts falling off. For the chap was a big Swedish bloke and he fitted the two parts of the exhaust together with the aid of a wooden block on the wall and a forceful and repeatable hit with the pipes. The problem being that he was big enough so put some force into the hit but the chap who took over during the holiday wasn't.

You really should subscribe ( join the club ) Spare parts are only available to club members. If you need to register the bike there is a fee for the service of the clubs Dating officer. As a club member you will make a big saving on the fee. You will also recieve monthly the club magazine. In which you can advertise free for any used parts. You will of cause need a parts list for your bike. You will need a part number to discover if the club has a part you may need. Ignore the link title for the 1962 supplement, it does cover all light weight models.

Hi Liam,

Welcome to the joys of Lightweight ownership!

Funnily enough, I had the same question when I first got mine.

Welcome! As the others have said the pipe slides right into the head. There are a couple Z brackets ahead of and behind the footpeg mount that bolt to the frame and head pipe.
