Ammeter Repair

Post by Dick Hobart »

Does anyone know where I could get an ammeter repaired? I can see what the problem is but I have neither the skill, patience nor thin enough fingers to sort it! And yes, I know they're cheap to replace but this is an original brass bodied 40's model.
Thanks in anticipation.

I don't know but many vintage aircraft instruments are similar & restorers get them repaired by specialists. They tend to have deep pockets. Any airports catering to vintage types in your area?
Cheers, Don.

Dick
Based on What Don suggested , it might be worth a word with
Ted Salmon
35 Mill Road
Burnham on Crouch
Essex
CM0 8PZ

01621 784141
He restored my magneto,is an ex aircraft engine fitter I understand and works on many boat electrics in the area . I think he is who Andy Tiernan sends his electrical repairs to.
He is also not far from you.

Thanks Dave. I should have thought of Ted - I've not had need to use him myself but lots of my mates have had mags and dynamos rebuilt by him and rate him (and his sons) highly. I'll give him a look.
Many thanks, Dick.
