Twin in Singles frame

Post by desmo »

Hello all.

I have become the owner of something beyond a baket-case, a pile of parts that where scatterd on one filthy basement.
Anyway, most main components are there and it consists of a 1952 Frame and a ca. 1958 G9 engine.
It seems to me the bike was once assembled but I am not sure if it was ever in running order.

After a first loose assembly, it seems a tight fit as the magneto is very close to the Frame.

So the question is: will a 1958 G9 engine fit into a 1952 Singles Frame less the hole for the airfilter in the rear downtube?

Over to the knowledgeable

Regards,

Hello
Yes you can marry your engine and frame together.. You will need twin front engine plates also to make up a head steady
you will also have to check that the primary chain case will fit the twin crankcase..There will be other bits and bobs, but
usually anything heavyweight amc will fit everything heavyweight amc.

Hello Tony

and thank you for your input.

Front engine plates and primary case came with the lot, so it it just the headsray I will need.
Early twins had this as a separate braket anyway, I belive.

Hi Norman
yes early twins had the headsteady fom a clamp on the frame front downtube. You will need to take one
from the frame top tube. best of luck with this these sort of builds can be a lot of fun
