Where is to find a brake cable to suit the frontfork Long Roadholder?
It is at a G15, single brake-shoe.
The lenght has to be about, or close to, 47 inch.

J.J.Cables made the casbles for my N15CS or you can go to Walrudge Motors in Canada, who have all the cables for the G15 models, As well as the N15, and the AJS 33 models. You never specifuied what G15 series you had, So was that the G15CSR, G15CS, G15Mk2 or the 1968 G15CSR, as they had different lengths of cable depending on the handle bars that were fitted. Norvil may also have these brake cables, as the earlier G15CSR's and Mk2's had the lower bars, so the stock Atlas or Dominator brake cables may fit. Cables for these bikes have never been a problem. There is also companies out there that will make the brake cables for you if you give them the specifications. J.J Cables get to the autojumbles so ask for Dave on their stand and he should be able to help you. The earlier Atlas Scramblers would have had the same brake cables as the G15CS models as they had the same type of handle bars.

Sorry it was meant to read Walridge Motors and not Walrudge Motors. They are in Lucan, Ontario, Canada, and they also have a web site, and there is a down loadable catalogue, that you can print out or look through on their web site, and find the brake cable that you require. They also do a huge range of parts for the G15, and N15 model range.

Walridge Motors should be able to fix you up. I have delt with them for several parts for my G15. If not I have a usable cable, but it may be too shot because my bike is fitted with clip on bars. I removed it because I'm fitting a disk brake to my G15. Let me know if I can be of any help.

Hi

I would like to order some brake cables from Venhill for my G15 projects. Above, "John Donne" refers to the Walridge Catalogue . Having examined the latest 2018 edition, I can't find the required information.

First of all, the handlebars.

For the late G15Mk2, the handlebar specified is 031664. Is this a high-rise handlebar for the US market, similar to the "semi-western" Commando handlebar 061046, a variant of the usual roadster handlebar 030408 specified for 1964, also fitted to the Norton Dominators, or another bend?

030398 is the h/bar listed for G15CS, 1964--66. A variant of this with a higher brace allowing the steering damper to be operated is desirable, as specified for the 1967-68 P11, P11A and G15CS models (031651).

Which cable lengths are required for clutch and front brake cables for each of these handlebars, incl. 030408?
How does the front brake cable change if a Norton TLS brake is fitted?

(Ready-made Venhill cables are available for the Norton Dominators only fitted with h/bar 030408 and the SLS front brake.)

Regards,
Knut

Hi Peter,

Your response really doesn't answer my question. For the G15CS and G15Mk2 w/high rise h/bars, NM25036 (clutch) is listed but 023753 (clutch, likely of more suitable length) is not. NM25220 is the spare part number for the SLS brake, for which NM25038 (Atlas w/high-rise h/bars) is listed as a replacement - how well does it fit? For the G15Mk2 with home/european bars, no suitable cables are listed. The spare part numbers are 026250 (clutch) and 031615 (brake). These cables will also fit the G15CSR w/drop-down handlebars.

It would be useful to know length of the conduit (from nose ferrule to end of adjuster) for all four cables.

-Knut

PS. For 026250, Doherty quotes 46" conduit length. It seems short compared with NM25035 (for Dommies w/european h/bar, 56" conduit length).

PS2. Just dismantled the brake cable off a 1967 N15CS, apparently it's the genuine cable (NM25220). Length of the conduit incl. adjuster is 124.5cm or 49".

PS3. A-N quotes 39" for NM25038. This must be too short for the high-rise handlebar, maybe right for the european straight handlebar.
