1955 head stock bearings
I am giving my 1955 Matchless G80 a service I want to replace the steering head ball bearings the ones I am replacing look too small what is the correct size ball bearings.

They are 3/16" and are part number 000072 - there are 28 in each race.

Note how many balls there are. If 28 in each race seem loose that's how it should be.

I think, correct me if I'm wrong Rob, that there's a space in the top and bottom, there's no need to cram in as many balls as possible.
28 is the number.

Wondered why Philip had to ask a simple question as he did. The parts list for his bike clearly states number of balls and size. I can only guess he has not got a parts list for his bike. It should have been something he should have got when he first got the bike.You need a parts list, instruction book & workshop manual Philip.
