Hi everyone, quick question, I am looking to buy some new oil lines for my 46 500 matchless, the old ones which are pretty beaten up are a satin chrome finish but all of the replacements are brass. What colour were the originals, any help greatly appreciated.
Thank you , Steve.

Re: Oil lines
Do you mean copper Steve?
I don't know for a fact they all were, but the oil lines on the engines I have worked on all showed signs of being plated, much of it long gone.
Cadmium, zinc, nickel, I don't know which plating, but they were copper pipe underneath.

Hi mate yes I do mean copper, all of the pipes available now are not plated only in the copper finish. Will keep on looking.
Thanks for your reply, Steve.

Re: Oil lines
Chrome plates nicely onto copper. I suspect you would need to make the lines up and then get them plated. Iirc there was a post from a Polish member with his restoration project the other day and he had nice shiny pipework.
