Re: Help for a 1964 Ajs CSR 650
Very odd indeed as the 63/64 brochure lists a different part number for the 63 tank and 64 tank. The badge number is different as well, unless I had a senior moment last night!
Either way it's still a lovely bike.
Duh! Yep senior moment, comp and tourer tank.

Re: Help for a 1964 Ajs CSR 650
The frame number and the engine number both fall in the range of numbers given in the article linked previously.
The gearbox number also appears to be in the correct range... Before 1962 the gearbox number was prefixed M. 1962 onwards the gearbox was modified and the number was prefixed MA. I have read that the suffix R was added to late model gearboxes and also read that it was added to CSR gearboxes but I don't know if either are fact.
If you wish to know for sure all the numbers are matching from the factory you will have to contact the club dating officer. It would be about half the cost of the non-members fee to join the club for a year and pay the members rate
Sure is a fine looking bike!

Congratulations it's a lovely bike. All you need to do now is join up and get access to the service spares you'll require to keep it running sweet.

Giorgio Beautiful looking bike . Just a couple of things looking at the you tube video .....you shouldn't need to use both fuel taps , one is main the other is reserve. Also the oil shut off tap needs changing to one that also cuts the ignition (if not already fitted). If you forget to turn it on the engine will have no oil and will be wrecked. .....Enjoy the bike.thunderbolt650 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 25, 2023 8:25 am Purchase completed!!
