I'm trying to track down my grandfathers Matchless. He bought it in 1947 when we was demobbed. I have a lovely photo of it in my grandmothers back garden.
I've checked the DVLA web site but nothing came up.
If anyone has any information I would be pleased to hear from you. I have just got into classic bikes (at 23 I think I'm one of the younger ones!) I've currently got a 1942 BSA M20.

Hi Quartermaster
No, I haven't got your grandfathers Matchless. But, don't forget, that reg number could be on a Vauxhall Corsa by now!
However, I doubt if you have a copy of the engine & frame numbers do you? It could be out there but wearing a diffent number.

I believe that if you can give good reason the DVLA can tell you if a registration is in use and who is using it.
