18S Horn Mounting
Okay, probably this is obvious and I'm just being dense to ask - but where does the horn bracket attach on a '54 AJS 18S? My bike came with an Altette replica, having a flat bracket bolted to the left engine plate:

So that's clear enough, but I'm installing a real Altette and the replica bracket won't fit. The Lucas bracket in the same style is # 700168:

But, the Spares List says the correct bracket is not this, but rather a Lucas # 701686:

which looks to be an L-shape (and I've seen it referred to as such).
Now, if the original/correct bracket is L-shaped, to which horizontal surface does it bolt to in order to position the horn upright as (I think) it should be?
Cheers,
Dave

There is a right angle bracket that bolts to the engine plate, which in turn carries the bracket you mention.
Look under 'engine plates and bolts' part No's 014194 (long) and 14195 (short) Haven't a clue why there are two sizes.
Between the main bracket and the bracket above there is an arrangement of rubber washers, see horn section in spares list.Edited by - Biscuit on 01 Feb 2007 09:19:11 AM

Ah yes, I see them now lurking in the other area of the spares list. Thanks!
