G2 CSR petrol tank (1965)

Post by basketcase »

Could someone please tell me if I have the correct petrol tank for my `bike. The one which came with the `bike has brackets welded on for knee grips, but is dented beyond economical repair, a spare tank which came with a dismantled AJS 14CSR, chrome plated (but flaking) has no brackets.Which one should be fitted to my bike, I don`t want to go to the expense of having the "good" one re-chromed if it`s the wrong one!! Cheers, basketcase.

no knee grips on those plated tanks as I remember, If the lack of knee grips bothers you a period substitute was stick -a -sole shoe repair

My 1965 AJS 14CSR had a chrome tank with kneepads stuck on. I think the earlier bikes had a thicker kneepad that fitted over two strips that were welded to the tank. Hope this helps.
