ignition timing

Hi I have just had my mag overhauled and have refitted to my ajs 31 and retimed the ignition via the spark plug hole ie 11/32 btdc.
the bike has fired up ok but i have not as yet had a chance to take her for a trial run to see if everything is ok.
Apparently th0ere is a way of using a degree disc on the timing si
de of the engine
