can anyone help me?
Can you help me get my bike started?
I've had a G2 for 5 years but my inability to get it started is driving me mad. My local garage (Bob Missen's of Melksham, Wilsthire) have helped me before & MOTd it for years but have stopped doing these "old bikes"(!).
Battery is brand new & fully charged, sparking at plug, timing is about right, new petrol, no obvious carb blockages, contacts & plug correctly set. Don't know what else to do.
Last time it did work (6 months ago) there was blue smoke coming out. Does that sound like a gasket or piston rings? If oil is getting in the cylinder will that stop it starting?
If i can't get it started I'll have to sell it & buy some Jap crap. Such a shame - I love my "old thumper" but I need something that works.
Any advice would be welcome, a travelling mechanic would be even better - happy to pay a reasonable fee.

Spark plugs and do all kinds of in-explanable things for no logical reason.
Seemingly defying its simplicity. along with plug caps-if you have one.
It could be that the bike is cursed and the sacrifice of a small fluffy animal within the vicinity of the engine at midnight is necessary.
This could be next door neighbours kids hamster for instance. ----Probably wont work but hey,- Tv is crap these days.

I wish you lots of luck with this, I enjoyed my 14CSR. Sir Clip could be right about spark plug which loses spark when under compression. But you've better help than me on the way.
I would, however, edit your post to remove the 'phone number. Not everyone who logs on are necessarily enthusiasts.
Although I've had terrific help and encouragement through these pages, there are possibly some non-enthusiasts who will read your post and might prove to be a nuisance?

Bloody repairman has made a house call, and decided that the patient needs to be dissected chez Itma this weekend.
A progress report will be posted on the gate. or an obituary, whichever is relevant.
