If the nut then touches the chain, reduce the length of the nut,

"Timing the dynamo center to the coil" ????
Neville & I are both confused. Now an alternator rotor is different kettle.

Im surprised no one has pointed out my mistake.
I did say that timing the rotor to the ign timing would make an engine able to run with out a battery.
A dynamo ,--which is what you were talking about of course puts out Dc and there would therefore be no need for timing.
An alternator rotor makes AC and therefore would make running without a battery difficult over certain revs. Sorry about that.

To add to the apologies, I got my Tony's mixed up. I was dealing with Tony Cooper!
I better draw this one to a close. While it goes against the grain, if I can't get clearance I'll probably go down Itma's route, which was how it was for the first several years I had it, with no problems.
