oil pump oddities

Duncan
many thanks for the info and so sorry to burden your thoughts with elements of failure. The fact that we have not received a flood of 'I remembers' bodes well for the longevity of 3/16 pins.

best wishes

When you consider that the pump delivers the equivalent of a gnats bladder at every stroke, and there is no resistance Ie. plain bearings, the pins can, and do, last for yonks. After several yonks there may be a flat worn on the pin.Edited by - Biscuit on 06 Mar 2008 11:23:19 PM

Thanks biscuit, I think that answers the question as I'm pretty sure you would be aware of failures. I'm not sure of what constitutes a gnats bladder in terms of volume but whatever it is its adequate to keep my bike running so thats good enough for me.

New thought! What oil pressure (if any constant pressure can be attained) does a heavyweight single posses. Its such an erratic little output that it defies the description of constant flow and volume. Just curious.
