sometimes there aint enough cuss words

Post by itma »

So I faff and fart about with this wretched G2, sort out the cracked flywheels, the iffy threads, the slanted helicoils, get the new conrod machined cos it fouls the recess in the flywheels, spend ages getting the bottom end to turn nice and freely and its all going together very well.
I'll stick the barrel on and have a cuppa tea and tonight it'll be ready to go back in the bike.
On went the barrel, turn the crank, clunk....it wont go past bottom, turn the other way clunk..... this cannot be I said to myself, tut tut tsk tsk.
Off it comes again, all turns happily, I have'nt left a spanner in, on again, off again, the shed fill with a blue haze.
All is scrutinised, measured, compared.

For the price of these pistons it just aint good enough

What was it?

The piston was hitting the fly wheels. I was told this when i got mine from JSL. But did not expect to have to take of 6mm but all Ok now.

Who said no good could come of lifting one's skirt? To reveal less a well-turned ankle or calf, more a polished wheel and rod . . . how did that Engineer's song go? Groily

the problem seems to be that the piston was cast arse about face, vis a vis the position of the valve recesses. Rick has kindly offered a replacement.

Ken
Looks by the photo that the recesses are on the wrong side of the piston, was that the case.???

As these recesses are machined and not cast, Locust is undoubtedly correct.

Ken

Reffering to the title of this missive, I have rarely fell short of the necessary number of cuss words, nor have I failed to use them enough times. Oh, and at the appropriate volume.

This is down to two main reasons:
1. Since school age I have slavishly learnt new ways to swear and cuss, and practised regularly.
2. Being a "bodger", and not pocessed of the fine arts of fully-skilled motorcycle maintenance, I have had many occasions to use my extensive repertoire in anger!

If anyone needs further schooling in the black art of foul language please get in touch.

Thing with these Alan is that the recesses are cast, not machined as per original, diitto the valve seat recesses.
You can see where they have been left as cast.
If the valve recesses in the piston where machined out to suit the inlet valve then all .
that would be needed is to reverse the piston.
sadly, I have neither the skill or the means to do this myself.

Dougie, as I am an enthusiastic and inventive cusser, the title is ironic
