Meeting 450 km off Rzucewo

Post by Ludwig »

As a member of the german section I intend to organize a meeting-point before the last stage
to the IJR in Rzucewo.
With the help of my wife's cousin I found a site north of Berlin which -to my mind- could
be used for that purpose.
It is located 2 km west of the Autobahn Berlin - Stettin, exit nr.13 (Lanke),
about 100 km away from the Polish border at Stettin. The site is situated at the border of
Prenden with direct access to a lake.
Approach by turning right at Prenden's north name sign in direction Ruhlsdor / Marienwerder.
There is one shanty with 4 rooms, kitchen, 2 toilets and shower, In addition there are
several bungalows and a lot of space for tents, car trailers and caravans. It is no problem
to leave cars and trailers from Friday to Monday (to do the last stage on 2 wheels).
As the site is enclosed and far enough from Berlin, leaving parked cars should be without
risk.
Only mattresses are available, no bed-linen.
The site was founded in the thirties and after WW2 it was extended for the use
as camping site for the staff of a GDR-factory. After the collapse of the GDR it
was no longer used and later sold to Josche (a slightly freaky 56 year old taxi driver with
pop-music ambitions) and his companion (she is riding a BMW R65).
If more comfort is desired, the night can be spend in the "Jagdhotel" in Prenden,
about 1km off the site (65 Eu / double-room).
Internet: www.prenden-jagdhotel.de
By the way, Josche looks forward to this event.
Charges: 10 Euro / night and person at the site, 10 Euro for 4 days parking.

There are two disadvantages:
1. The distance to Rzucewo is about 450 km, that's a lot for a day trip with
old motorcycles and drivers. But if the groups are small enough and the autobahn
is used within Germany, it should be feasible. In case of a breakdown at least
one place on a trailer is available (I'm accompanied by my wife with the car and her
125cc Benelli on the trailer) .
2. As the site was only little used over the last years, it's state is slightly derelict
and people with higher demands should use the hotel.
However, just this state has got it's own charm.
And - as all is organized by private persons - there is no insurance if some accident
happens on the site.

So, if anybody is interested, please let me know as soon as possible.
In this case I will attend Wednesday evening and do some preparations
on Thursday (some cleanup, putting signposts etc.).

Dishwasher-taps and detergent.
Sorry, I'm not versed enough with photobucket tu supress my intimate photos.
Maybe this mixture is useful for cleaning up the site in Prenden.

Hi Ludwig, at least you must admit, a cooking Benelli barrel looks much more exciting than a tired crock! Cheers Paul

Hi Ludwig,
What is happening at the site at Prenden, has the owner cleaned it up yet? It looks to be an ideal stop over between the Hook of Holland and the International.

Hi Mike,
I think at he site (outside the shanties) spring will do the job -
the photos where taken in February, a gray and grim month - in May
we will have a nicer situation. As until now I have no idea if
anybody wants to take advantage of the offer, nothing had happened.
But if there's any interest, I can assure that the rooms will be in an
acceptable state (for medial demands) at the evening of Thursday.
To estimate the effort it would be helpful for me to get as soon as possible
non-binding responses of interested people.
By the way, just a lot of snow here in the south of Germany - no spring fever
in the moment.
Regard Ludwig

Afternoon Ludwig,
We are having a mixture of hail, sleet and snow showers with sunny intervals thrown in here in Surrey, hopefully the weather will improve for next week-end for the running of the Westward Ho! competition.
We were thinking of possibly stopping over at Prenden on the Monday evening for a couple of nights or so, maybe visiting Berlin to view tourist sites etc before continueing to the International.

Hi Mike,
I myself have to work till Tuesday and will appear Wednesday in the evening.
But I just had a phone call to Ruth at the site at Prenden, and the told me
it will be no problem to receive visitors as soon as Monday.
She speaks English and she or her companion will be present.
The coordinates of the approch to the site:
@52.796819, 13.551614
Generously, Ralf (responsible for the web-site of the German section),
inserted a yellow pin at the site into the map of our section:
