EI can be very good but be aware that it consumes up to 35watts (Boyers own figures). i fitted it to my 31csr but removed it and refitted the magneto because of the power drain.
You need a good and reliable power source to keep it running nicely.

I agree Lawrence, but it is more efficient going down the 12 volt root and keeping your battery well charged. I've had no trouble in the past 5 or so years.

Yes EI is fine so long as you convert to 12v as well. I tried it on a 6v system and it could'nt maintain a charge for long which made the EI play up. Lucky I had a twin and could usually limp home on one pot!
