engine sprocket
I'm probably confused again-I "upped my" gearing by changing the GEARBOX sprocket-as engine sprockets are not available-or so I was told-pre alternator engines have a shock absorber cam- expensive to make- on the sprocket . I went over Hardnott and wrynose passes on me 350 A.J. in 1960-has it got any steeper since then??

Easy-peasy! I did both on the '29 Raleigh in 2008. (500 sidevalve-not a quick bike) Anything with a gearbox will do the trip if you remember to change down! Actually they may have made it less steep for H&S reasons and to guarantee the human rights of tour coach drivers.
Anyone here done it on a veteran/belt driver?
