AJS Model 8 centre stand

Post by jajo57 »

Does anyone know the part number(s) of the spacers used to locate the centre stand on a 1960 Model 8?

There's a document in Christian's Archives that describes the assembly of a Lightweight frame and it refers to the above items, and makes note that the spacer fitted to the left hand side between the stand assembly and footrest is longer, a picture at the back of the document shows these spacers clearly.

Unfortunately, I can't find any part numbers for these items and no one I've spoken to can recall there being any spacers.

So, any help will be gratefully received.

Richard

try 042367 x 2 and 042486 x1. Both are described as centre stand spacers in the parts catalogue.

I got 042367 from Andrews Engineering but it comes as one spacer which fits neatly into the frame channel and appears to act as a locator for the centre stand spring. The square footrest stud runs throught it. Part no.042486 is not in their catalogue nor does it seem that Russell Motors have it.

Have you tried Steven Surbey? 01462 811770 spares@amcclassicspares.com.
I know they did have some secondhand lightweight stuff. I'll also look in my spares box just in case.
