Wondered if anyone can advise on grade of engine oil and gearbox oil for twins. Ps i've been hunting for the oil filter .Understand there's a small mesh jobby inside the outlet on the tank not sure where the main filter is.

John , you are welcome to come round and i'll show you the filter etc.. on my G11
I'd use SAE 50 in the summer and SAE 49 in the winter if I use it alot
Best you download G11 handbook from the following address . what year did you get ?

I have never seen SAE 49 oil - would it be suitable for my '49 G80 ?

It's a slightly thinner oil than SAE 50 Sam, mainly used in oilcans.

You can make your own by
Taking 49Fluid ouces of SAE 50
Adding 1 Fluid ounce of SAE 40.
Do take care when mixing !!!!!!!!!!!!
You must put the SAE 50 in First.

Halfords sell a 20/50 classic oil, it has little or no detergent in it.
