Just be careful..............the chaser can dig in, so keep rest as close to stem as posible, put an old wooden file handle on chaser.

If you can get the nut and the yoke to me I will sort it as long as I have the right taps and die.

Many thanks for your advice and kind offer. I have taken parts to local farmer who decided it was too delicate for him but he has a toolmaker contact who will sort it out.
We ended up discussing old bikes as he and his father used to race AJS/Matchless so it was a very interesting visit. I have every confidence it will be sorted but I'll let you know outcome
