Fork Modification

Post by teckhardt »

I would like to modify my forks based on the info in the 1957 - 1964 workshop manual and this post:

www.ajs-matchless.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_I ... 6&CAT_ID=1

I have not been able to find a source for the p/n 016782 springs. Any ideas? Is there a suitable substitute?

Thanks in advance.

Those are the sidecar springs for the 1-1/8in forks & hard to find. They are one inch longer but 0.212 wire instead of the 0.222. It is possible to use the 1-1/4in sidecar springs but action will be stiff. The extra length is necessary. Cheers, Don.

They are a progressive spring correct?

What about custom springs?

I think that all AMC fork springs are progressive. Can't help with a source. Cheers, Don.
