Hi.I am rebuilding a 1956 G80S i have noticed that the engine sprocket is worn and has half a tooth missing.The sprocket has 19 teeth on it is this right or should there be 21.Thanks .....

21 is correct. 19 will be for sidecar. Dave

Thanks Dave i had a feling that it might have had a sidecar fitted because near side rear foot rest was missing and there is a sidecar mounting bolt under the sadle.I will have to check the gearbox sprocket do you know what that should be..Thanks DAVE.(My name as well)

Yep 21 for a 56 G80S, 16 or 18 for other models inc 350. I'll pass on the sidecar sprocket number of teeth. Its all in the bikes parts list, I never remembered I looked.Edited by - Rob Harknett on 28 Feb 2012 9:19:26 PM

generally a 500 would have the 350 sprocket (18 tooth) fitted for heavy sidecar use but it pretty much limits top speed to 60mph. a 19 tooth sprocket would do with a lighter sidecar and give a better crusing speed. If you are using solo definitely go for the 21 tooth sprocket.

I went to 23 teeth and it still want's to go! 10 1/2 stone though!

Standard gearbox sprockets (for CP/B52/AMC) are 16 teeth. There's a good range of alternatives available for the AMC but alternative Burman sprockets are a little more difficult to source.
