These forks
Hi Ken and or any other post war Model 18 owners:
You have an old M. 18. Do you know of any reason I could not use these forks (http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie ... _500wt_667) They are 1,1/8" and the guy says they are off a 7R .
with my 1955 single downtube frame and my 1946 M18 engine?

The forks are '49 to 51 and will fit the '55 frame. Probably they were originally were shuttle valve damping but may have been converted to damper rods.
The listing said they were fitted to a 7R grass track bike- so expect the worst ie full rebuild

That's a fair question, Rob. I think the price has gone
so ballistic now (255GBP + 100 shipping to Canada) ,
they are out of my range anyway...
