What you are looking for is probably cut away drawing on page 78 or so of F W Neill's book AJS Singles 1948 - 1957 (Matchless the same), but from memory on the output side there's an arrangement of rollers and two heavy "washers" that make a built up bearing on the clutch centre, which is splined onto the output shaft.

I have all the bits for the output bearing from the gearbox but don't know the order that these go.
The bearing must go into the case but what order does the dished washer and felt seal, etc go on the shaft?
