Oil return?

Is that a Triumph twin leading shoe I see on the front? it certainly looks like the ones on my 1970 & 1972 Bonnies, is it a conical hub?

Yup!
Conical hub with the location being a clamp around the fork slider, along with Akront Alloy rims, folding footrest (so you can kick start it), oddball oil tank with screw top and much much more --
I am hoping to get the thing to Cote in October to get some ideas.

Oil return?

As the others have said above, it doesn't sound too much to worry about. My own 49 single has a weedy return rate, but it obviously scavenges the sump properly or it would be backing up with oil in there. I know what that looks like after the felt filter in mine became blocked! Very messy and a serious power loss as the cases filled. That bike in the pic doesn't look too bad either, if it's a recent build get some miles under the wheels and iron the bugs out-you'll soon know if your pump isn't scavenging sufficiently!Edited by - bjork on 03 Sep 2012 9:50:38 PM

Hi Richard,
Funnily enough the clutch on this one was shot - now replaced.
And for Bigwol's delight - or not -- :

Not a great pic, but enough for use as an emetic.

Might be a mixture but looks ok to me! (and i thought i was going to get a good laugh out of it!)
Get some miles in on it, and get it to the Alternative Rally next month, which can't be too far from you?
It's all just riding motorbikes

Well Bigwol,
That is the intention, as you say, not a million miles down the road and it is time to say hello!

Penguin, Nice Interesting Bike!! Roller bearing singles only need a little bit of oil (flow and return), unlike plain bearing twins which need lots of pressurised oil, so don't worry.
Malcolm, I like the sound of that place but Google can't find it, will it be somewhere in my old school atlas?
Cheers, Robin.

Abyssinia is now Ethiopia.
With all that entails.

On a lighter note the beast went on it's first run today, forget the question about inlet tract diameter, we are nearly there!

Ran well, a few flat spots, but could show a G9 a pair of heals.
Until --- no drive or gear selection, bum!
Then drive plus some gear selection but no neutral, double bum.

So home home in disgrace on the back of a trailer.
just did not wish to risk damage if something slipped big time.
See you in October!
