G2 Rear Brake arm & Rod

HI all

G2 250 rear Brake arm; should it be straight ?
My son managed to lose the back wheel out of the swinging arm and did quite a bit of damage

Anyway got a new s/arm (thanks Pete) and am now putting it back together but brake rod doesn't seem to work unless arm is in vertical position and rod runs behind shocker (this can't be right)

Am I missing a tube of some other bit ?

Sounds very odd Rob, heres a photo of a 350, the 250 parts are the same according to the spares book excuse the lack of rear suspension
