Hey,
I was doing a little thinking the other day and I am thinking of converting my gas headlight and tail light into LED lights.
I should be able to get a pretty good light and battery inside the housing.
Has anyone here done this before and have any advice for me?

I was thinking of using a rfid switch so there was no external indication that the light has been converted, but I guess the globe will be a dead give away...

cheers,
Greg

well here is my first attempt.
I am using the casing that came with the bike. It had no lense, all I have removed from the casing is the gas tubing to run the electrical tubing.

from here I will install a brake light switch like this one

using a small 9volt battery to power it hidden somewhere......

What you are doing is a sensible adaptation, just keep all the original bits, tube etc.
If you ride at night and with the traffic today, a good idea.

Not done this but thought about putting a gel battery in the leather tool box on the rear carrier and running wires through the rubber gas tubing. Being LEDs the they will draw very little current so I would have thought you could get away with thin wire, but I expect Colin wll tell me why this is wrong.
