I recently bought from the Club an AJS 125 Eco-2 reg 2014. The tickover is running at 3000 rpm and I cannot get it down. Any suggestions.

Make sure there are no air leaks between the carb and engine. There is probably a rubber manifold in this position.

Suggest you check that the cold start lever is turning off.
Because of the lean burn the cold start idle is faster than normal.

I think there is an EGR exhaust gas recycling set up on these bikes and if the pipe has perished ( as far as i know , it's rubber) this will allow air in and upset the idle. there was a post about this a couple of years ago, if I remember correctly.
