What is the correct engine block (left side ) marking for this model?

51/G80 stamped to the left followed by a gap and towards the right side the actual engine number with a separate C and a separate S in the vicinity of the number. If this is not clear PM me and I will send you a photo of a 51 G3LCS crankcase number.

I agree with Clive but having just looked at my 51 G3LCS crankcase the S has not been stamped! Strange as the bike was never a rigid model.

In 51 they were probably still selling lots of rigids and the S would have been added once the machine was built up, or that's my assumption as the S was often out of line. For it to be missing suggests a replacement engine, or an end of the week build or a dealer modified rear end. I wonder what the factory records have to say. Oh the records for the comps were done separately and may not be available!
