Help Please with B52 Gearbox Part

Hello again. Just about to finish the 52 box and there's one bit I can't figure where it goes. Please help!
If you pull out the cam spindle, behind it you'll find a hole. ( you'll have to take the split pins) The plunger goes in there, spring first. Look at the back of the cam spindle, you'll see the dents which register the gears.
