Does anyone know where I can find a complete gauze oil filterfor my G5 light weight Matchless.
Tried a felt filter to no avail, engine just been rebuilt. No filter found in engine, just a plug.

Re: Filters
check your parts list for what you want, then check club spares, they do list 2 lightweight filters.

Re: Filters
As Fergy points out, he has tried the felt filter. (stocked by club spares)
He is looking for the gauze type that we haven't been able to get for a long time.

Re: Filters
I did not know where the felt filter came from or what the club stocked, or there was a choice of felt or gauze.
Parts list states felt filtre. Does tried to no avail mean, the bike will circulate oil OK but not with the felt filter fitted. If not, could the fault be due to the engine just being rebuilt. If the fault is due to a problem with the felt filter, try a club filter that no one has complained won't work ?? or have they ?? If the club filter does not work for you, then the fault must be in the engine re build.

Hi Fergy,
Did you not get the answer you need here:
http://www.jampot.com/forum/viewtopic.p ... 3&p=175150
Gauze filters are no longer available and you will be lucky to find one. If you want to fit a filter, you will need the parts described in the above thread.
You're a club member, so I recommend placing a wanted ad in Jampot. You never know, someone may have one...

Re: Filters
Tried to no avail? If you have all the correct parts, all available, then all should be fine

What does 'no avail' mean?
Did it not fit?
Didn't any oil circulate? It can take several minutes for oil to be seen returning after rebuilding an engine.

Re: Filters
I have been using a long felt filter since I had a mammoth task getting the old gauze one out (see previous thread already mentioned) when I got the bike with no issues whatsoever.
