Model 18S Front Forks

Can anyone tell me how to remove the fork sliders on an 18S. I have removed the front wheel, mudguard and the bolt in the centre of the fork slider (underside). But they will not split. What am I missing???????

I would think you also need to undo/remove the threaded seal retainer - its threaded into the top of the alloy fork slider. Can be difficult to remove without damaging or denting or squeezing it - I used, I think, a large rag and a pair of plumbers stillsons (monkey wrench).
