I wonder can anyone help,
The first question is what speedo should be fitted to my machine, it is a 1954 18s, looking at the speedo fitted it is not original the speedometer also sticks at 20mph can anybody recommend a replacement. Second on the forum one of the members said it should be fitted to the fork crown on a touring bracket no
016945 these are not available through the club any more and will not be restocked ,could anybody email me a rough sketch so i can make one.

Thanks Martin.

#016945 isn't available from AMOC Spares at the moment but I bought one a couple of weeks ago from Steve Surbey at AMC Classic Spares.

Sorry, Rob.... The 016945 speedo bracket isn't anything like that. It's a simple, right angle bracket with three holes in it. It fits into the groove milled in the front of the top yoke.

Ah, the type on e bay is like the early type introduced in 1938. Also similar to brackets on James 2 strokes that took a D shape speedo
Actually 016945 was updated circa 1960, to, quote spares list, use 023626, so that's an alternative pt. no. to look for.

Thanks for your help chaps,
The ebay bracket is the wrong one it is the L shaped bracket i require ,i shall probably have a go making it myself ,i think the one the club had for sale had a gusset on the 90 degree bend i shall make it from the photo you kindly uploaded, from the information i was sent the speedo i require is a smiths 480/3/L when i went on wee bay to have a look the price for one of these speedos is £200+ ,has any one tried these Indian replicas ,
or any other alternatives.

Thanks Martin.

Make sure you get the one with the same size to fit our cables and not the bigger Indian sort, also get a suitable length cable from the same seller as the chronometric cable square is bigger and will not fit the drive of the Indian speedo I think its 12mm not the 18mm fitting try this chap on the old eBay freeshipping-parts.
