I asked for advice when trying to improve my clutch (56 twin) and in addition to the above I was advised (when I next had it apart) to:-

- have the plain plates low pressure vapour blasted (or low pressure bead blasted ) by someone who has done clutch plates before and so is aware of the risk of rusting/bowing. (cost me £5.00)

- clean the friction plates in thinners (cost me £1.67)

- run the primary chaincase on TQF (an old formulation of automatic transmission fluid) (cost me £2.50/500ml) and make sure the level only just touches the bottom run of the chain.

None of the above seems to have done any harm, and combined with the set up advice above has left me with a pretty servicable clutch.

Clutch fixed, BUT!

After work it wouldn't fire, guess I must have drowned, so now it is at work.

Which sparkplugs should I get, can't check the old one, as I don't have it near me

SAE 50 is what is listed in the workshop manual for the chaincase.

Plug is NGK B7E, although some papers I have read say B8E. The original fitment was KLG FE80.

My manuals say 'engine oil' for the primary drive which, with mono grade would be seasonal i.e 30 or 50.
I'm using multigrade 20/50 in engine and primary drive and all's fine.
Still drips though.

I just have some Silkolene "Primary Chaincase oil"

Where can I get a "profile" to put into the chaincase, I've heard a bit about them, but the guy I know who has them, doens't have them in stock anymore...

Save your money, just put it together properly, done thus it won`t leak, guaranteed.
Far too much on this subject in past posts.
I am prepared to travel to Denmark to demonstrate this, subject to usual fees and expenses.
If you look at new photos, you will see a lovely pic of an AMC single standing on a pristine patio withno oil stains under it. s`easy.

Oh that again. Even this fantastic seal needs the the cases to be true on their sealing faces, once this is achieved, silicone wonder goo does the job WITHOUT smearing bucket loads on the Club supplied rubber band.
