What is this frame???

Hello!
New member here wanting some advice!
I have just bought a very interesting Matchless Desert Racer from the states, however upon arrival, i noticed its not exactly what i thought it was. It was described as a 1964 Matchless G15CS, however it only has a single downtube? The engine is the correct Norton Atlas and the numbers match up to one of the early 200 that went to the states.
Could anyone let me know what frame it has? The frame number is stamped on the right side on the downtube, its marked C8654. Could this be a competition frame?
Anyway, i am looking to sell the bike to fund a race car project, so would like to know as much as possible about it.
