They started giving names as well as model number to bikes circa 1961. The names never seemed to catch on. Many owners may not even be aware what the name of their post 61 bike is. They were for all markets / countries. Although USA India company gave the bikes names relating to Red Indians, like Brave, Squaw etc.

Took my bike test on a borrowed newish Sapphire csr in 1963 , We knew it as a Sapphire super sport
was a really good looking bike , and after passing my test a run down the A1M told me it was quick , ( well compared to the Tiger Cub I was supposed to take my test on ) .
We all knew the names of them .

Look in the sales cat. Most other literature only refers to the model only.

Thanks for the info Rob, have viewed the details, would the bikes have a special designation number/letter on either the frame or engine to denote either sapphire or sapphire sports? regards.
