Hello Guys,
Im just peeking around the door into your G11 room to ask a potentially ridiculous question with a bit of a long winded genuine story behind it.....
....
Here goes...... I have a nightmare on-going 'bitsa' project taken over from my late father, It turns out that we seem to have a G11 Framed G80 and subsequently need a G80 Frame to get the V5.
Where the heck do I start?
Anyone got the opposite problem that we could fix??

If there is no practical difference between the frames, why bother changing? My '54 G80S started life as a G3 but is fully registered by DVLC as a G80 so presumably no problem re-registering your G11/G80 as the latter. Andy

A G11frame or any twin frame will have an extra bracket on the front down tube for the head steady. Year for year , that is the only difference.
Have you got the frame properly dated for the Dvla by the club or are you guessing.

Forgive my ignorance but I know the frame no. details the make but is the model assignation always kept with the frame and therefore on the V5C?
If so has it always been thus as I know of a bike with a 1958 frame, originally a G11 which now houses a much later AJS M31 engine which has a Matchless G12 designation on the V5C or could this have been done in the days when the DVLA were less diligent?

Yes this was caused by some dating officers ( Not Club ones ) that just used the engine number to date a frame if they were unsure.

It would have been quite in order to change the engine years ago, declaring the change and the logbook altered showing the new engine fitted.
