thanks for your replys and special thanks for the pictures. It lookes like I have the original setup as in Mick D's pictures. The rubber ist still soft and I tend to re-use the pipes as they are.

WRT the allen bolt (see above): all engine plate bolts have been replaced by metric screws, but I want to go back to the BSC studs and bolts. As far as I know, the part number is 000278 4.9/16x5/16" for this bolt. Is this correct? Otherwise, what is the part number or size for the reduced thickness screw?

I ordered that bolt under part number 014147, it's length was given as 4 - 5/32" x 5/16"

Clive - "don't think you have looked at the parts list!" yep, I said it was valuable, not that I'd do it!

Mick D - Yes, mine has the flatter headed bolt. I remember the first time I dismantled and rebuilt I forgot about where it went! Had to drop the pipes back off but fortunately hadn't fitted the rear part of the primary chaincase.
